Illustration of wearing neckerchief with (legacy) uniform

This illustrates how the neckerchief should look with the Scout uniform; wearing it over or under the collar is a UNIT OPTION and all members of that unit should follow the lead of its leadership.

Two Jamboree Patches?

The question from LinkedIn™ was "When I was a young scout in the 60's it was standard uniforming allowance to wear 2 jamboree patches above the right pocket but the designation was one would be a world jambo patch and the other a national jambo patch ..... not 2 of the same jamboree type. Returning to scouting 12 years ago I discovered the standard changed that only one of them is allowed period."

You mean just like this:

The wearing of two Jamboree emblems in the past: the national (BSA) Jamboree emblem went beside the world jamboree or encampment patch. It worked okay for the BSA; other nations didn't like it. So the BSA changed.

Yep. In 1989, the BSA's Jamboree Committee and the Uniform and Insignia Committee changed the standard size of the Jamboree patch. Before then, it was small, large, extra large -- whatever the designer of the Jamboree patch decided and pitched as the design. Since 1989, the Jamboree uniform emblem size is designed to be no larger thant three inches in diameter.

"Does anyone here REALLY know what happened to change a perfectly good standard of displaying 2 totally different jamboree events?"

Simple. The patches GOT BIGGER IN SIZE, that's what happened to change the standard. The standard was changed in 1989 and since then, as someone else correctly wrote, one goes on the pocket and the other goes above the "Boy Scouts of America", "Venturing-BSA" or "Sea Scout- BSA" strip.

Silly me... I thought the name tag is supposed to be above the interpreters strip. Where's the seabadge Pin going if the Jambo patch is worn? Is it me or is the BSA cluttering the uniforms in the same "positions" multiple times?

Ulf, the way it should go is as follows (from the top of the right shoulder loop to the pocket; see illustration below):

Illustration of how the Jamboree emblem is worn with other insignia on the right side of the uniform shirt

- Jamboree emblem (with space for "wide game" emblem(s)) (The Jamboree emblem is worn centered three inches above the "National Identification strip", which gives it and it's "wide game emblem(s)" enough space...

- Name tag (optional; those on a camp staff or serving as instructors may wear the metal tag or they may wear a plastic or metallic tag)

- Seabadge emblem (if earned) (the Seabadge emblem is worn one half inch above and centered above where the right button is; as a reminder, the cloth Seabadge emblem was discontinued in 2011; all Seabadge holders at any level wear the metallic Seabadge)

- up to three Interpreter strips (if narrow) or two Interpreter strips (if wide)

- National Identification strip (Boy Scouts of America, Venturing - BSA, Sea Scout - BSA)

Hope that this helps out!
