The Eagle Scout Mentor Pin is for CIVILIAN WEAR ONLY. Like the Mothers' and
Fathers' Pins, the Mentor Pin is designed for the Eagle Mentor to wear on a suit or tie
or as a hat pin (personally, I think that it's too nice a pin for a hat pin).
It is NOT a uniform item -- even to wear on the collar or pocket flap.

Eagle Scouts are a rare breed and the recognition items they receive upon becoming an Eagle Scout is likewise rare indeed. This page was created after almost a hundred Eagle Scouts all asked me over the years "What can I wear on my suit to denote that I have earned Eagle -- I don't want to drag out the medal every single time; nor do I want to wear my mom's Eagle Scout Mom pin either...there should be SOMETHING that we Eagles can wear that will ID others to our special status..."
Ideally, the actual Eagle Scout Award medal should be worn -- and can be worn as shown on this page during formal Scouting events. This is impractical, of course, if your Eagle medal is like mine -- framed and matted along with other Eagle Scout items. The options are to purchase an additional medal (about $17 at your local Scout Shop™), to purchase a medal from an auction site like eBay(tm) (price ranges with relative value and age of the medal), or to wear the small lapel pin which came with your Eagle presentation kit (or which can be purchased through your local Scout Shop™ for about a dollar or so).
I have went with the small Eagle lapel pin, which I wear on suits when I do not want to wear the medal itself (which I did find an "award presentation medal" in which I wear during Eagle Courts of Honor and other formal events. My medal cost $12 from eBay(tm).)
Where to wear lapel pins
All of these are designed to be worn on the left side/left lapel of the suit, dress, vest, or jacket; but in reality you can wear them anywhere you like... but for best uniforming, you should NOT wear either of them anywhere on the field uniform. You have a cloth emblem which is worn indicating your status as an Eagle Scout.

There are also lapel pins for those who have been honored with the Distinguished Eagle Scout
Award or the Outstanding Eagle Scout Award as shown below:
Distinguished Eagle (left) and/Outstanding Eagle (right) Award lapel pins
Ideally, one should not wear both Eagle and either Distinguished or Outstanding Eagle lapel pins together.
Hope this helps those who want to show their special recognition WITHOUT having to wear the actual medal or a cloth patch with your suit!
